Spotify recently released
an interactive Musical Map that's going to change the way your workday
playlist looks and the way you think about your hometown (or maybe not). The
music listening service pulled together tons of user listening data to
determine the favorite song in 1,000 cities around the world. Each city got
its own playlist, meaning you can truly jam as the Brits do all day long if
you want to—be prepared for lots of local sounds with the ocassional Jason
Derulo track thrown in. Our recommendations: Look to Des Moines, Iowa's
playlist if you're looking for a a couple of hours of new indie hits; Paris,
France if you're hosting a cocktail party; and Vilnius, Lithuania if you're
looking to broaden your horizons. Check out the full map here. Erika Owen
