You may not have heard of
Talbot Runhof—the luxe German women's wear label founded by Adrian Runhof
and Johnny Talbot in 2000—but you certainly know the Hollywood starlets
who've sported their designs: Kristen Stewart, Eva Longoria, Karlie Kloss,
Kristen Bell… the list goes on. The brand's glamorous cocktail dresses
and evening gowns have cropped up on red carpets the world over, thanks in
large part to the designers' acute attention to detail—be it delicately
overlain lace, perfectly placed paillettes, or intricately done ruching.
Now, Talbot and Runhof are turning the same keen fashion eye to their recently
unveiled Munich boutique. Located in the city's prime downtown district of
Preysing Palais, referred to by the designers as the "SoHo of München,"
the store is set in a former private home originally constructed in 1732.
That's not to say the space feels like a relic of the 18th century—quite
the opposite, in fact. "The building is a sterling example of opulent
rococo architecture," say Talbot and Runhof. "But we wanted the space to
feel sleek, modern, and clean. "
Thomas Zothner To achieve this concept, interior designer Patrick
Ferrier covered walls and floors in white, pale grey, and lilac, accented with
deep purple felt and brass hardware in a brushed matte finish. Also on-point
are the grand 15-foot ceilings, elaborate stucco façade, high-wattage
mirrors, and M. C. Escher-esque pattered floors. And while shoppers will
likely come to Talbot Runhof for fashion-forward looks, the things that will
keep them put for hours are undoubtedly the store's oversize dressing rooms,
second-floor garden and courtyard, and dramatic spiral staircase (done in
plexiglass, chrome, and mirrors)—the perfect place to test out your grand,
ball gown-bedecked entrance. Thomas
